Approach:
Knowing that this design needed to hold up in sixteen different languages, the localization issue was quite a challenge. There was a fine line I needed to discover with the character count and text size, so that the navigation would look similar in each web site no matter what the language was. I needed to ensure that the character count for all the translations would fit properly in the design, so I used the German web site as a guide. Often when German is translated and fitted into a design it is a good indication of the maximum character count.
